A wedding, a doctor update and a big ole' belly

This past weekend, my good friend, Leah got married. She looked beautiful and it was a great ceremony. I am so glad that she found someone to spend her life with. She deserves it! This gave Ryan and I a chance to dress up (which for me is quite difficult lately) and also get to see some old friends. I got to see Angie and Krista on this past weekend too....both at the wedding and at Leah's lingerie shower the night before. It was so much fun to get together with those girls and laugh. I missed that a lot. In the picture with us four girls, Angie is on the far left (she is also pregnant just about 4 weeks behind me), Krista is center left, Leah is the bride, and my big ole' belly is on the right.

I went to the doctor this morning and although I am measuring a bit large (the doctor says I'm going to have a big baby), nothing exciting is happening. No dilation, no effacing, no NOTHING. He's perfectly fine in there and doesn't seem to want to come out just yet. Oh well, there will always be more stuff to do to get ready for his arrival! I guess the more time we have to prepare the better. I go to the doctor every week now so I will post updates as I get them!

The past week...

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I might just give a brief update on the past week for me/us.

Last weekend we had a HUGE shower in KY with Ryan's family. It was awesome.....we got a ton of stuff. I truly hope we get the chance to use it all! Mom, Dad, Jami and Jack came in for the weekend and after the shower they helped us set up the nursery a little more. It will now be a good place for Abbott to sleep if he comes early! Jack helped sweep, or "weep" my house. He did a better job than I do!

Thursday was Valentine's Day. Ryan left that morning for "Coffee Fest" in Washington DC. We had a V-Day party in my class at High Hopes. I don't know if you know this or not, but in preschool we celebrate "Valen-time's Day." I got to try to answer the age old question, "What does 'Valen' mean?" I tried.....I don't think they got it.

Friday, I headed to Knoxville for what is probably my last trip before the baby arrives. Saturday we shopped a little and I picked up some bigger shoes for my ever expanding feet. Shoe size pre-pregnancy: 8; shoe size I purchased Saturday: 10. Feet actually growing? Yes. Feet swelling? Yes. I will take a picture and post it when they're really good and swollen. It'll make you feel sorry for me. Really, though, don't feel sorry because that's my only real complaint thus far in the pregnancy.

Today is Sunday. I will head back to Nashville after lunch and get ready for my work week. Ryan comes home tonight from "Coffee Fest." Maybe things will slow down a bit before Abbott comes......I doubt it. :)

Nursery Update

Well, Ryan is feeling much better now and the nursery is very close to complete. We have walls and trim painted, furniture in and assembled, ceiling fan mounted, and a few items of clothing in their right places. What's left to be done? Get and hang curtains, wall hangings, wash and sort all washable items and put them in their right places, and have baby.

I don't want to post a picture yet of the progress, but I will post when it's finished....it's going to be super cute and funky!

Nephew Jack gets to sleep in it this weekend when he comes to visit. I hope he likes it so far!

Tornadoes

We had some weather come through last night, but it didn't hit my street. This is the same system that I found out has killed 47 people so far so it looks like we really were being watched over.

Even though the storms passed over relatively quickly and our tornado warnings and watches had expired, the sirens went off in Nashville ALL NIGHT LONG. Every time I woke up to use the bathroom (which is quite frequently at this point in the pregnancy) they were going off. It was a lovely experience. So now here I am at work, teaching 11 4/5 year olds (who also probably lost sleep last night) on probably about 5 hours of total sleep.

Patience.....wearing......thin.....very......thin......

Nursery

Soooo..... we were supposed to have the painting completed and the furniture moved in by yesterday, but Ryan got sick and there is only so much I, a prego, can do. It's in the same spot it was in on Friday night....unfinished. I just want this thing done!!!
