I did it!!!!

OK, so I have this friend from work named Holly Beth. She's a great girl and I am so glad we are friends! Holly Beth was a runner in high school and last year was really into the 5k races with a couple of other girlfriends. She had kind of gotten out of the habit and was telling me about the Nashville Predators "Fangtastic" 5k one day and said, "You should do it, too! It'll be fun!" So a few weeks ago, I recklessly signed up for this 5k without any training or any running experience at all. Why? Because you have to start somewhere and I figured that if I can finish this one then maybe I would be motivated to train for one and maybe someday run the entire length of one, which is just over 3 miles. I went into this knowing I wouldn't be able to run the whole thing and expecting to walk most of it. My goals going into this morning were these: 1) FINISH and 2) Don't be the last person to finish! I am happy to say that I met both goals! The run began at 10:00 this morning and I finished in just under 50 minutes.....not a great time, but since it's my first it's pretty darn good and I cried when I crossed the finish line. I was proud, what can I say! To give you an idea of how long Ryan had to wait for me...the guy who finished first finished in 16 minutes. Wow. I don't ever expect to be that fast, or even that fit for that matter, but if I can train and finish the next one in less time than today's, then I'd say I'm doing OK. I am into celebrating the small things! :) We ran all over downtown Nashville and while my body wasn't wanting me to do it, I kept going and it was actually pretty fun! Funny enough, my lungs handled everything I threw at them, it was my legs that couldn't handle it. They started to hurt so bad and I am sure I will be sore for a couple of days. Here some pictures to document my morning:

Holly Beth and I before the race. See how happy I look? I had no idea what was coming.

I had the support of the 2 most handsome men out there.

Holly Beth's husband, Dillon, was there to support her and hung out with Ryan and Abbott. He makes his Pruitt blog premiere in this fun video:

He is just waiting for his chance to run.

Here is my big moment!

After the race, they offered up free bagels and fruit. I guess that's good for you after you run. I didn't really care because it was the best darn bagel and apple I ever had! Now, see how happy I look here? Totally different feeling: ACCOMPLISHMENT and maybe a little bit of exhaustion!

I'm so proud of you! That's very motivating to me. I may actually escape this house later and go run around the neighborhood. And I don't even like to run. It'll all depend on how my sick kids are doing. But I think that's so great!! Way to go Kelly!

That is AWESOME!!!!! I'm so proud of you and I'm so thankful your asthma didn't affect you! You can definitely condition your legs to catch up to your heart. I look forward to hearing more stories like this in the future!
